    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise, pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1), to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Welfare, regarding the status of recruitment of the Director-General of the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK). In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Explain the progress made in the recruitment of the Director-General of the Competition Authority of Kenya, whether the Public Service Commission has been involved in the recruitment process or not; (2) State the actions that have been taken to ensure adherence to the stipulated timeframes for acting appointments as stipulated in Section 34(3) of the Public Service Commission (PSC) Act (No. 10 of 2017); (3) State how long the position has been vacant, detailing who has been serving in an acting capacity during this period and whether the provisions of the said section of the PSC Act have been complied with; and, (4) Outline any measures taken by the relevant authorities to expedite the recruitment process and ensure the appointment of a substantive Director-General within the limits set by the Act in order to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness in the recruitment and appointment of public officers.
