"content": "I have served and continue to serve in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Competition Authority. Kenya is a highly respected member of Competition Authorities within the COMESA group of 21 countries. It is very sad that since the end of the term of Mr. Francis Kariuki, the immediate former Director-General, we have not had a quick succession or confirmation of the Ag. Director-General on that position. This has left CAK in abeyance and it is not functioning as it should. This is because the person who is seated there acting as the Director- General is not able to focus and do the work that he is supposed to do. This means mergers, acquisitions and all things to do with competition law in and outside Kenya, are suffering because of this."
