I wish to remind the House that in 1989 when I was just three years old then, the late Wangari Maathai stood up and fought many honourable men, MPs, including H.E our former President Moi. She had found out about a 62-storey building, a skyscraper that was to be put up at Uhuru Park, yet she wanted to conserve the environment. She stood up and fought these men. They called her crazy, mad and un African because she was opposing men. However, she knew something; she was fighting for the conservation of trees and our environment. In 2023, today I am 37 years old. I have the opportunity to stand in the Senate and listen to probably descendants of the same men, who are now supporting that we need to do something about climate change and legislate.
