    "content": "beginning of returning the sugar sector to the farmers themselves, who should be benefitting from sugar farming. Three things that will happen this evening that I will applaud are: We are writing off debts worth Ksh50 billion of farmers' loans. That only happens in the tea and coffee sectors. We are paying farmers’ arrears worth almost Ksh7 billion and salary arrears to Nzoia, South Nyanza, Miwani and Chemelil sugar companies. I am sure that at the end of this evening, our farmers will know how they will own their industries. We should change it to make sure it is 20 years or 30 years. That is almost a lifetime. I ask those who will be charged with running the sugar industries to do so with utmost good faith and trust and ensure that farmers benefit so that our people can also be part of this country's economic rejuvenation. Thank you."
