    "content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we seem to be spending a lot of money on diseases like HIV/AIDS and TB - the communicable diseases. But the killer diseases now are the non-communicable diseases. Last year, as the Chair of the Parliamentary Network on Population and Development, we had engaged the researchers who are doing good work with Parliament so that we really get the statistics. In a study done in Korogocho and Viwandani, you will be shocked by the kind of people who are suffering - the urban poor. They are suffering from what we call lifestyle diseases, which also include diabetes and hypertension. The number is so high that this Government must respond to that situation. This House is committed to provide that leadership if the Government is not doing so."
