    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise, pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Finance and Budget regarding the closure, by Standard Chartered Bank, of bank accounts of small businesses that have less than Kshs10 million monthly cash inflow. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Explain the basis for the closure of bank accounts of small businesses by Standard Chartered Bank, indicating the number of accounts affected. (2) Clarify whether the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) played any role in the closure of the said accounts. (3) Outline measures and strategies that the Government has put in place to improve access to banking services for small businesses in Kenya. I thank you."
