    "content": "Mr. Speaker Sir, I rise, pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Land, Environment and Natural Resources regarding compulsory acquisition of unregistered communal land belonging to the Turkana Community for the Lamu Port, South Sudan, Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET) project. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Clarify whether the National Land Commission (NLC) has engaged Turkana County Government and the Turkana Community on the compulsory acquisition of community land for the LAPSSET project. If so, explain how NLC will resolve objections and concerns raised in the engagements. (2) Highlight policies and measures in place to guide the compulsory land acquisition process, to ensure that the rightful individuals are identified and fairly compensated."
