"content": "However, Sen. Munyi Mundigi’s comments on nominated Senators were too harsh. As he is talking about that, there is no level playing ground when it comes to the political competition. That is why you will see less women in the Senate, the county assemblies and the National Assembly. As we are supporting the Petition, what we should be really worried about is the level playing ground. This is so that everybody can fight for their own to come to this House. Left the way it is, I think we will always have few women. It will also be very rare to see the special cases such as the PWDs in this House. On that nomination, I concur with the majority of us who are saying that it should be relooked at. This is because I know in some counties such as where I come from, all the MCAs were nominated by one person. I heard people complain. Immediately after they go to that county assembly, they will rarely talk about the issues that are affecting the county. Coming even to the nominated Senators at the Senate or in the National Assembly, it is the same. How will they be chosen? They must be people who will come and talk on national issues and not a nominated Senator from Nakuru County talking of only Nakuru County. They should be people nominated to talk on the national issues. They should be leaders and not followers. When we get those coming to this House, they make a difference and then they could be allowed to vote. If they have no vote, it means they are here as stooges. So, let us review that Petition so that everybody who is nominated plays their role to ensure that this country moves to the next level."
