"content": "This Bill is now going to jeopardize the future of our data. Today, data is the most expensive commodity in the world. This Bill, because of the way it is being rushed, has serious loopholes. I just want to beseech my colleagues, that if we are now going to use public funds, we go through the process. This is because Sen. Kibwana’s Bill will come here and go through the three processes. It will go through public participation and that is public money that we are spending. Why do we not have some common sense to prevail? We bring the two Bills, sit down, merge them, and allow the distinguished Senator to also be recognized. When she was nominated to come to this House, it was one of our desires to ensure that she passed legislation. Let us not become a House that just rubberstamps. We will pass this. We know these Bills are going to be assented into law in 10 days. However, do we think about the actions and unintended consequences? It is about time, that we become future-centric in our thinking, in terms of drafting legislation. When we have issues, we should not just put them under the rug.
