"content": "(Prof. Saitoti): Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) On 24th October, 2011 at about 1.15 a.m. along Mfangano Street within Nairobi Central Business District an unknown person detonated a hand grenade at Mwaura’s Bar injuring 12 persons. All these people who were injured were all taken to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment. Again on the same day at about 7.55 p.m. at Kaka Stage near OTC, an uncommon person threw and detonated a hand grenade which exploded in the midst of members of public waiting to board public service vehicles to different destinations. As a result of the explosion one person namely Patrick Musembi Nzuvi who was later identified through his fingerprints, died instantly while 13 persons sustained injuries and were taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment. It was established later through fingerprints, that the late Musembi had been previously convicted with robbery with violence. (b)Whereas investigations have not yet been completed into these grenade attacks in Nairobi, it is highly suspected that they could be linked to the ongoing OperationLinda Nchi in Somalia because mainly the Al Shabaab earlier issued threats that they will unleash terror on Kenyans unless the Government suspended the ongoing operation in Somalia. (c)The following are some of the measures instituted by the Government:- The security of Government vital installations and buildings has been enhanced to forestall the attacks ---"
