    "content": "Lastly, I was the Co-Chairman of the National Dialogue Committee. I know a matter that Dr Margaret Nyakang’o said in that Committee that has been blown out of proportion. The Leader of the Minority Party alluded to it, although with some selective amnesia of what was said in that Committee. I was chairing it. The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning answered the question on whether there was budgeted corruption on expenditures in Dr Margaret Nyakang’o’s office. She said that there was budgeted corruption. “I can give an example of my office where I am the only public officer”. She continued to say that: “I know how much I earn, but the budget allocated for my salary by the National Treasury was almost twice that amount. The National Treasury clarified that part of what was budgeted for under the Office of the Controller Budget included other entitlements like car grants and mortgages, which had not been utilised”."
