"content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I agree with the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Health. As much as it looks like there are several amendments in this Bill, those amendments are not substantial. They are restricted to small corrections of the use of certain words so that we can be in tandem with World Health Organisation (WHO) standards. For example, at titling, it makes sense because the title is the Kenya Drugs Authority Bill. We are amending that to read Kenya Health Products and Technologies Regulatory Authority. It is to explain what the Bill is about. Laser treatment cannot be called a drug; it is a technology. It is just trying to make sure that the Bill is now with modern science, where treatment is not by drugs alone, but can also be by technology. It is a more comprehensive explanation. The other amendment that I can pick as an example is the change of the word therapeutic cosmetic, which is being replaced with dietary supplements. Again, it will become an all-encompassing regulation."
