"content": "Fire attacks are not a new issue in boarding schools in Kenya. The deadliest school arson in Kenya took place 20 years ago, killing 67 students in Machakos County in southeast of Nairobi. The fires are particularly dangerous because they are usually lit in dormitories, as was the case in Lillian’s School. You may also recall that 25 girls perished in an unexplained blaze at a school in Bombolulu near the coastal city of Mombasa in 1998. Since then the Government has taken no action to mitigate such occurrences."
