Temporary Chairman, I beg to move: THAT, the Schedule to the Bill be amended in the proposed amendment to Section 53 of the National Gender and Equality Commission Act, 2011 by deleting the words “the National Assembly” appearing in the proposed new subsection (1A) and substituting therefor the word “Parliament”. The justification for the amendment is that Article 254(1) of the Constitution requires all constitutional commissions to submit their reports to the President and Parliament. Therefore, the amendment seeks to align the Act to be in sync with the provision of Article 254(1) of the Constitution. Thank you."
