"content": "THAT, the Bill be amended in the Schedule in the proposed amendments to the National Transport and Safety Authority Act by deleting the proposed amendments to Section 16. The proposed amendment seeks to increase the term of the Director-General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) from the current three years, renewable once, to a five-year term, renewable once. The Committee rejected the increase, noting that there has not been any cogent reason to support the increase. Furthermore, the practice goes against the governance parameter and practice under the Mwongozo Code of Governance of State Corporations."
