Hon Temporary Chairman, I beg to move: THAT, Clause 14 of the Bill be amended by deleting the words “in consultation with” appearing immediately after the word “determine” and substituting therefor the words “upon the advice of” The reason is to make the wordings of this clause consistent with the provisions of the Constitution. The role of the Salaries and Renumeration Commission under Article 234 of the Constitution is to provide advice on renumeration so the word “advice” is to be used in substitution of the word “consultation” in order to make it consistent with the provisions of the Constitution."
