"content": "to rice and so much meat without looking at green leafy vegetables, millet, sorghum and other foods that we used to eat. There is one called kinaa in my area, which is extremely important for keeping people stronger and young looking. As we focus on making sure that the elderly are happy, we also need to put money in research to ensure that we prolong life and have people who are 90 or 100 years who can still run and doctors who are 100 years and who can still walk into a clinic and treat people. This can only happen if we have the council for the elderly which can provide and ensure that the elderly are given exercises to do through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. The officials can plan for regular activities where the elderly can run and walk so that they have better health. I would like to call upon the House to put money into research on longevity of life because this is the next biggest industry and it is possible. Other doctors in the world like Dr Sinclair in the United States of America and those in the United Kingdom (UK) are putting money in it to ensure that people live a longer time to be more productive before they get to a situation where they cannot run or walk. As I support this Bill, I would like to thank the Government for ensuring that the money for the elderly is disbursed in a regular manner. I would also like to call for increment of that money because Ksh2,000 with the current economic situation cannot really buy much. The money should be enhanced so that they are able to buy something and, more so, their medication. It will be a move in the right direction. Congratulations, Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker for giving me a chance to put my voice in this Bill."
