    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance to contribute to this very important Motion. The creation of the Ministry of State for Development of Northern Kenya and other Arid Lands is the first and only attempt by the Government of Kenya to acknowledge and address historical marginalization and continued under-development of the region. In this respect, I would like to take this golden opportunity to thank His Excellency the President, hon. Mwai Kibaki and the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Raila, for creating this Ministry. This Ministry has historical significance to the people of northern Kenya and other arid lands. When the Ministry was created, we thanked God for making it a reality that the injustices that took place in northern Kenya and other arid lands was today being felt by the Kenyan community; and that injustice for northern Kenya is injustice to all Kenyans and Kenya as a whole. It was a step in the right direction. It was the first time in our history that we witnessed a sense of fairness and hope for the people of the region.
