Many said it was a new beginning for a new Kenya and hope was placed in the new generation of Kenyaâs leadership. We believed that history had been written and the promise of Kenya for equal rights and equal opportunity for all was finally with us. Although the older generation in our community was tired of false promises and they witnessed for many years under-development, marginalization, denial of basic needs and rights, police brutality and human rights abuses, they did not believe in the new initiative and in the new Ministry implementing anything. However, the younger generation celebrated. They felt there was light at the end of the tunnel."
