"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, there are no people who were more pro- KANU than the people of North Eastern Kenya and other ASALs and yet, that political regime did not care about them. So, who is to blame? It is the people! As we blame the Government for forgetting, we should, also, ask: âWhat is it that we did ourselves to ensure that those disadvantages do not continue or why did we not put in place people who would actually bring the interests of those communities to the forefront?â Let us not forget that a few people from those communities were âboughtâ. You know, they were given jobs here; they were given this or that and, in many ways, they were used to silence people from asking for what should have been done 20 or 30 years ago, and not now!"
