The Deputy Leader of the Majority Party tabled various reports and among them was a Report of the 16th Meeting of the Bureau of East African Community (EAC) Speakers of the National Legislatures and the East African Legislative Assembly which has 34 pages. Hon. Speaker, it bears comment because it has provisions relevant to Members in barely ten days. So, with your permission, let me first congratulate you and the rest of the Speakers for the 16th Meeting of the Bureau of EAC Speakers, held on 16th of this month in Juba. Allow me also on behalf of this Parliament to congratulate the Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, who is the incoming Chairperson of the Bureau of EAC Speakers. Recently, she has also been re-elected as the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). As a Member of the East African Community (EAC), we are proud of that. Allow me to indicate to the Members as contained in the Report, that the next set of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) games will be held from 7th to 18th December 2023."
