    "content": "Hon. Temporary Speaker, I beg to move: THAT, the National Government Coordination (Amendment) Bill, (National Assembly Bill No.25 of 2023), be now read a Second Time. Hon. Temporary Speaker, the main point of this amendment Bill is to ensure that village elders and the units that they represent are legally recognised in the National Government Coordination Act. I am moving this amendment Bill because village elders continue to perform important functions without any pay or allowances. This is unlike other officers who work for the Government, while doing work that is not as crucial and critical as that of village elders. The current National Government Coordination Act only recognises national Government coordination officers up to the rank of assistant chief."
