    "content": " Hon. Temporary Speaker, I was worried by Hon. Melly’s request under Standing Order 95. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to contribute to the Conflict of Interest Bill (National Assembly Bill No.12 of 2023). This is a good Bill that is intended to eliminate corruption. It is in the interest of every businessman and contractor to conduct business with the Government, which is the biggest employer with the biggest budget as opposed to the private sector. We need to have a clear demarcation of where conflict of interest is to ensure that we do not ban everyone from conducting business with the Government. It is important to know that this can also apply to the Members of Parliament. If this Bill is passed the way it is, we will also be told that we cannot oversee the NG-CDF or Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) because somebody may look at the Bill in a different manner and think that Members might have a hand in oversight of KeRRA. So, it is important that this Bill is amended so that it does not classify everybody as a public servant."
