    "content": "At a sitting of the Senate held on Wednesday, 12th April, 2023, Sen. Kathuri Murungi, MP, sought a Statement regarding the progress in the evaluation of tenders and the commencement of dualling works of Meru Town Roads B66/A9 project Phase One. In the Statement, the Committee was requested to- (a) Apprise the Senate on the status of the evaluation of tender numbers KeNHA/2536/2022 and KeNHA/2540/2022 for dualling, consultancy services for the construction and supervision of Meru Town Roads B66/A9 Phase One works, noting that the two tenders were closed on 18th March, 2022 and 22nd March, 2022, respectively; (b) State reasons for this delay in the completion of evaluation processes; and, (c) State when the dualling of Meru Town roads B66/A9 Project Phase One will commence, giving the projected date of completion, stating measures, if any, being taken to ensure that the project will be completed within the scheduled timeline and budget. Mr. Speaker, Sir, in response to the request sought by Sen. Kathuri Murungi MP, the Committee sought and received a response to the Statement from the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Roads and Transport. At its sitting held on 12th October, 2023, the Committee considered the response to the Statement and observed that the response was unsatisfactory and sought supplementary information. The Committee will, therefore, pursue the supplementary issues raised in the Statement to its conclusion."
