    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Education on the implementation of the Presidential directive on lowering entry requirements for diploma teacher training colleges. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Confirm whether the Ministry of Education has implemented the Presidential directive on lowering entry requirements to Diploma Teacher Training Programmes to a mean grade of C (plain) and C+ (plus) in the two teaching subjects. (2) Confirm whether the Ministry is aware that colleges are unable to implement the Presidential directive owing to the absence of a circular to enforce it. (3) Indicate whether the circular will be issued and subsequently communicated to colleges. (4) Provide a list of colleges that will offer diploma courses in secondary education while indicating their areas of specialization for both arts and science subjects following this directive."
