"content": "Financial Year, 2009/2010. I join my colleagues in supporting the Minister for Roads, his Assistant Ministers, the Permanent Secretary and the entire team for doing a good job. This is because if you drive from Nairobi through Thika to Mwingi and also look at the road works going on in the City of Nairobi over the last six years, you will say that this is a working Ministry. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to dwell more on the reforms that the Ministry of Roads has introduced in the last three years. This is where the major stake for Kenyans lie. I am talking about three authorities, namely the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA). These reforms are geared towards bringing services closer to the people. They will make the people of this country to have authority to choose and control road projects. They will also empower the local contractors and take care of the road users."
