"content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. I also want to associate myself with the supporters of this Bill. This Bill addresses the issue of surrogacy. Simply stated, surrogacy is when a woman carries a baby to term, but has no genetic relationship to the baby. A surrogate carries someone else's baby who does not have their genes. This law introduces two new terminologies. One is the surrogate mother who carries the baby. The other one is the intended parent, who takes the baby as soon as it is born. This new arrangement is now recognised by law in Kenya because it has been happening. It has been going on, but with some challenges. The problem it is supposed to solve is that infertility is a reality in Kenya. We all know someone who does not have a child but desires one."
