Temporary Speaker, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 44(2)(c), I wish to request a statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning on the delayed payment of pension and death gratuity to teachers. In the recent past, there have been reported prolonged delays in the disbursement of pension payments to retired teachers, causing undue financial strain on those critical personnel who dedicated their lives to shaping the future of our nation. This situation is not only disheartening, but also undermines the value we place on the contributions of our educators to the development of our society. It is against this background that I request for a statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning on the following: Could the Chairperson: 1. Provide detailed information on the number of teachers who have so far retired and/or died, but have not received their pensions and death gratuities, respectively.
