    "content": "Hon. Senators, it is my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to the Third Session of the Senate. I take this opportunity to also wish hon. Senators a happy and prosperous 2024. I trust that during the recess, you had the opportunity to reconnect with your constituents, listen to their concerns and challenges and assess the opportunities available in our counties. From these interactions, I have no doubt that you will endeavour to develop a legislative intervention for addressing emerging issues. In this respect, my office and, indeed, that of the Clerk of the Senate is available to hon. Senators to assist them effectively in discharging their constitutional mandate. I also trust that during the recess, hon. Senators took time off to rest, rejuvenate and spend time with families and friends over the Christmas and New Year festivities."
