    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1), to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Energy regarding the seizure by Government of a Kshs17 billion consignment of oil at the Port of Mombasa. In the statement, the Committee should- (1) State the circumstances that led to the seizure of the Kshs17 billion oil consignment recently imported into the country through the port of Mombasa disclosing ownership of the consignment. (2) Clarify the criteria used in evaluation of applications for license for the import and export of petroleum products, stating whether the import of the consignment possessed valid license. (3) Indicate the point of origin for the consignment, clarifying whether any quality assessment was conducted at the port; and confirming compliance with the standards set by Kenya Bureau of Standards (KBS); and report on the status of the imported oil shipment, detailing any actions undertaken by the Government to address the ongoing input.
