Some of the student leaders were part of the second strike protesting against the expulsion of some their colleagues. There were other issues that contributed to the situation, including the intended introduction of a dress code. It was proposed that it was good for students to have dress code. There was also the issue of withdrawal of ambulance services, threats of cooking in hostels which is a big problem and withdrawal of shuttle services between Kenyatta University and Ruiru Campus."
