"content": "Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I beg your indulgence to first thank the Assistant Minister for clarifying that the meeting alluded to of Central Kenya leaders, where I was not present, was a normal meeting. We all meet our students from wherever region we come from. But could the Assistant Minister tell us what the Government is doing to deal with negative ethnicity in our institutions of higher learning, especially the universities? It affects both the students and the lecturers as has been exemplified in the Kenyatta University case. Secondly, what is the Government and, particularly, the Ministry doing to ensure that our universities have adequate security and that police posts are located within the universities? What investigations have been done to punish outsiders who instigated the riots and destruction at Kenyatta University? They include politicians and other outsiders. What is the Government doing to guarantee tuition, accommodation and food for the students? The question, as the Assistant Minister has shown, is economic. It is about students who could not pay for the exams. That is where it started. Could the Assistant Minister assure us that the loans structure will include all the necessary components to ensure that students from poor families are able to continue with their studies?"
