"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to support and give certain recommendations starting, of course, with Nairobi and other urban centres. If you look at the allocations and the remarks on the urban centres, it is assumed by the Ministry that urban centres are electrified. It is really an assumption because urban centres are not central business districts or upmarket areas. It is slums like Korogocho and Mathare. I can assure you that they are totally in the dark! I do know that we have problems because we connect electricity illegally. I speak as âweâ because we are the Nairobians and we know how we do it. But we do it because we do not have access to the kind of funds that are needed to bring electricity towards the slums. I would beg this Ministry to consider a slum electrification project that covers the slum areas of Nairobi widely. I do know there is a concerted effort to look at this issue more responsibly as a Ministry. But I know that it continues to be bogged down by issues of illegal connections, which brings about the issue of insecurity because of fire. I know that if you can work with the leadership within"
