"content": "Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the Report of the Committee on Finance and Budget on the debt management strategy. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this cannot be overstated in this country today. If Kenya manages its international debts and the local debts, then this country will move in strides and uphold the dignity of its people. If there is anything that has really put pressure on Kenyans, it is the international debts that we have from all over the world; lenders, for instance, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, Eurobonds and all that. Nonetheless, I believe and I see the Kenya Kwanza Government led by the President H.E William Ruto has started on the right footing, that we mop up our own resources and finances to finance our programmes, so that we reduce international borrowing. Kenyans may feel a pinch for now but I believe it will pay off on time. What also ails this country besides these international debts is how these resources are spent after being borrowed. There are too much financial leakages in terms of corruption. If we address the issue of corruption both at the national and county levels, then we will see the value of the resources that we are borrowing.
