    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing regarding the recent state of horrific traffic accidents in many parts of the country. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Investigate the causes of the accidents that took place in the following roads- (a)Gitugi-Murang’a Road on 25th February, 2024, where three pupils from Maadili School in Juja lost their lives. (b)Karbarnet-Marigat Road at Patkawanin in Baringo County on 16th March, 2024 involving the Kapsabet Boys High School bus, where two people, a student and a teacher lost their lives. (c) Kimugul-Olenguruone-Silibwet Road on 19th March, 2024, that claimed the lives of five people with 15 others sustaining injuries. (d)Katangi-Kitui-Machakos Road, on 28th February, 2024, near Katangi, that claimed the lives of nine people. (e) Othoo-Kisumu Nairobi Highway on 29th January, 2024, at Othoo, that claimed the lives of 11 people, with 50 others sustaining injuries. (f)Voi-Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, on 18th March, 2024 involving a Kenyatta University bus and truck, where 11 students lost their lives and 42 others sustained injuries.
