    "content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion because some of the rules and regulations that were laid down, in very good faith, have been used to discriminate against our own people. In fact, the major source of corruption in the recruitment into the Armed Forces and police force is because of trying to follow these guidelines. I know of very many officers of the Armed Forces and Administration Police who are shorter than this requirement. The main reason is that some of them are not even recruited in the field. They are recruited at the head office and then the names are just given out there. So, there is no point in pretending. As intelligent and knowledgeable people, when we set out guidelines, we must also be reasonable. You cannot just say that you are going to pick somebody who is not able to carry a gun. The hon. Member has said that we may even recruit somebody who cannot carry a weight, but that does not depend on height. We have talked about technology."
