    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.56(1)(b) of the Senate Standing Orders to make a Statement relating to the activities of the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare for the period commencing 1st January, 2024 to date. Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare is established under Standing Order No.228(3) of the Senate Standing Orders and is mandated to consider all matters related to manpower in human resources planning, pension, gender, culture, social welfare, youth, National Youth Service (NYS), children’s welfare, national heritage, betting, lottery, sports, public entertainment, public amenities and recreation. During the period under review, the Committee held a total of 15 sittings, during which it considered 41 Statements and one Bill.
