Senators, at the Senate Business Committee (SBC) yesterday, the indication was that we were expecting two Cabinet Secretaries this morning for purposes of responding to Questions posed by hon. Senators. During the day, yesterday, the Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Arts called and informed me that she would not be able to attend to this session. Having read through her letter at the SBC, where she had indicated that she will be going to State House to brief His Excellency the President on matters touching on her Ministry, we indicated that she could go brief His Excellency the President at 9.00 a.m., and maybe appear before us at 11.00 a.m. However, she called me indicating that immediately after briefing His Excellency the President, she is supposed to proceed to the airport to catch a flight on official duties. I found that very reasonable and due to that reason, she is not here today for purposes of responding to Question No.025 by the Senator for Kirinyaga County, Sen. (Dr.) Murango, who, in fact, is not in the House. The Question is, therefore, deferred."
