Speaker, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 44(2)(c), I rise to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure regarding the state of infrastructure at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Hon. Speaker, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) plays a crucial role as a transit hub for passengers, major airlines and a significant cargo centre for both inbound and outbound goods. Indeed, the airport is among the busiest in Africa with records indicating that as of the financial year 2022/23, the airport handled close to 8 million passengers and over 300,000 tonnes of cargo. However, over the past decade, JKIA has faced persistent challenges such as inadequate infrastructural upgrades, power blackouts and broken facilities including leaking roofs. Passengers handled at JKIA have also consistently complained of poor customer service at the facility. These issues not only affect the operational efficiency of the airport but also contribute to a deteriorating passenger experience. Despite the Kenya Airports Authority"
