    "content": " Hon. Temporary Speaker, I beg to move that the Statutory Instruments (Amendment) Bill, (National Assembly Bill No.3 of 2024), be now read a Second Time. This Bill had previously been passed by this House but, when it was taken to the Senate for their concurrence with the National Assembly, it stuck there. Its importance is to address a legal lacuna occasioned by the expiry of more than 1,900 statutory regulations. The regulations expired by operation of the law, which provides that a statutory instrument or regulations must be reviewed every 10 years. If statutory instrument is not reviewed within that period, it automatically expires. These regulations expired in January 2024. There is a court case…."
