    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise pursuant to Standing Order No. 53(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Education regarding the safety and hygiene measures in place ahead of reopening of learning institutions after postponement due to the devastating effects of the ongoing heavy rains to various schools across the country. In the Statement the Committee should- (1) Provide a report of all schools that were affected by the floods stating the level and magnitude of destruction and measures in place to ensure adequate safety of learners ahead of the reopening of schools. (2) Report the resources allocated by the Government to ensure schools have efficient water supply and the required standards of sanitation and hygiene. (3) State the number of persons currently hosted in learning institutions as a result of displacement by the floods and other rain-related calamities across the countries.
