"content": "(Hon. Salim Mvurya): Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir and hon. Members of the Senate for the opportunity. I go straight to do a statement on the Questions that have been raised. First, concerning the issue of Karebe Gold Mining Limited, it was first issued with a mining location and a prospecting license number 264 under the Defunct Mining Act, CAP 306, on 15th April, 2009. The company applied for the renewal of the mining location in 2016, but it did not meet the requirements of Section 124 of the Mining Act, 2016 on award of a mining permit. The company applied for a mining license on 1st April, 2021 of an area covering 78.8 hectares and valid for 25 years. The mining license is granted over the existing prospecting License No.264. Section 182 of the Mining Act requires a that a mineral dealer's license holder to pay fees or charges as prescribed in Regulations. Section 183"
