"content": "(Hon. Mvurya): Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker and hon. Members for the comprehensive supplementary questions. I would like to begin by responding to the question that has been asked by the hon. Sen. Onyonka. Thank you for the compliments on the profile. Hon. Senator and the House, I assure you that the directives that were given after your meeting in Kisii are now in my office. I am aware of the issue of soapstone. We have concluded a feasibility study on the soapstone in Kisii. We are now working to identify potential investors. I request we work together with the Kisii leadership in identifying areas where we can put these investments. We should be working with you outside the House to ensure we realize this dream. I am aware that we have had other business people who have been working illegally. We have stopped some of them and the process continues. Soapstone is critical and is one of the flagships we will be profiling in Kisii County. So, we will work together on this. The second question was by Sen. Gataya Mo Fire from Tharaka Nithi County. I confirm that your sentiments are true. I visited Kithiori and Maragwa. When we went to Kithiori we looked at the Iron ore in that area. More importantly, we have also discovered deposits of lithium. The reason we have not made any announcements is that we have sent a team to Tharaka to look at the key strategic minerals, Lithium being one of them. Tharaka-Nithi is among the 24 counties that we should be saying something about at the close of June when we have critical confirmations on what is on the ground. Also, for the record, we have a report which identified 970 mineral occurrences across the country. Some of the occurrences are viable and some are not. We continue to confirm as we go along and prioritize as we look at the strategic minerals. We continue with this process. We should be making announcements as we go along. Swali lingine ni kutoka kwa Sen. Cherarkey.
