"content": "Finally, there are a number of irregularities in the way our finances were utilised by the various Ministries. The first case that I would like to point out is a case of an irregular tender for the schools broadcasting by the Ministry of Education. The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) does it at an average amount of about Kshs33 million per year. When the Ministry realised that it was high, they decided to award the tender to another broadcasting company in the name of World Space. What is amazing is that instead of saving on costs, the Government ended paying more, despite the fact that school broadcasting did not continue. The Government later paid up to Kshs70 million per year upwards, from the Kshs33 million. So, this is a clear case of misuse of office. We have recommended to the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) to further investigate the case, particularly with a view to establishing whether there was a relationship between the then chairman of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and the ownership of the company that was given the tender to broadcast in schools; that is World Space. With those few remarks, I beg to support."
