"content": " Maybe, it is mine. The assignments and responsibilities given to an intern during the period seem supernumerary. This means there are people tagging interns along so that they can get the exposure. Interns are put on a work schedule so that what they do is part of what the institution does on a daily basis. If that is the case, medical doctor interns are part of the workforce. They have a responsibility to look after patients. They are in wards and undertake surgeries where they are competent. Hence, they are working. If they were in the private sector, they would be earning an income from the institutions they work for."
