"content": " Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for the supplementary question from the Senator of Kisumu County. I highlighted that Kenya is touted as the highest trader in carbon credits in the region. Most of these transactions have been voluntary between private project proponents and communities at various levels and in different sectors. There is a separation between the voluntary carbon projects, which are private and then we have the regulated carbon trading programmes. These have not been in the radar of the Government. That is the reason we have focused on reviewing the law and putting in place a carbon market framework. One of the core components of this framework is a national registry that will process each and every single carbon market project in the country from different sectors. So, we have one national registry where operationalization is already underway after the gazettement of The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate."
