    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to Move that The Law of Succession (Amendment) Bill (Senate Bills No.20 of 2023) be now read a Second Time. At the onset, the purpose of this Bill is to amend the current provisions under The Law of Succession Act to align it with the current Marriage and the Matrimonial Property Act. The Bill also proposes to safeguard gender equality in the succession matter, so that widows and widowers have equal rights upon the demise of a spouse.
