The Committee heard that the interest started accruing from the time the decree was issued by the court to the time communication was received from the Attorney-Generalâs office to enable seek authority from the Treasury for final payment. The Committee abhorred the manner in which the Attorney-General failed to notify the Department in time, leading to unnecessary accrued interest which would have otherwise been avoided."
