Senators, I wish to report to the Senate, that I have pursuant to Standing Order No.46(3), received the following Message from the Speaker of the National Assembly regarding the decision of the National Assembly on the Senate Amendments to the National Rating Bill (National Assembly Bills No.55 of 2022). The Message dated Wednesday, 24th July, 2024 was received in the Office of the Clerk of the Senate on the same date. Pursuant to Standing Order No.46(4), I will now proceed to report the Message- Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No.44(1) and No.148(b), I hereby convey the following Message from the National Assembly. WHEREAS, on 11th October, 2023, the National Assembly passed the National Rating Bill (National Assembly Bills No.55 of 2022) with amendments and thereafter referred it to the Senate for consideration in accordance with Article 110(4) of the Constitution; and, WHEREAS, on the 9th May, 2024, the Senate considered and passed the said Bill with further amendments and referred it back to the National Assembly for consideration; FURTHER WHEREAS, on the 12th June, 2024, the National Assembly considered and rejected the Senates amendments to the Bill to the effect of which the Bill The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate."
