Speaker, having read that, first, allow me to take this opportunity to thank you as the Chairperson of the Committee on Appointments and all the 20 Members, with the exception of Hon. Opiyo Wandayi. For obvious reasons, he could not sit in a Committee that was vetting the nominees as his name was among them. Hon. Members, as you will note from the bulky Report that I tabled this morning, Hon. Opiyo Wandayi appeared before the Committee as a nominee to be considered for appointment as the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum. Hon. Speaker, the 20 members, including yourself, sat through Thursday from 8.00 a.m. Hon. Members, as you know, we were checking in at County Hall as early as 7.00 a.m., in the morning, and leaving as late as 10.30 p.m. Hon. Speaker, allow me to take this opportunity to profoundly thank you and all the Members of this Committee for the commitment, diligence and professionalism you showed while considering all the nominees. The Report I tabled this morning contains all the proceedings of the Committee on Appointments. It includes the approval hearings of the 20 persons nominated for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries of the stated ministerial portfolios in the Cabinet of the Government of Kenya. As forwarded by His Excellency the President and communicated by yourself on Tuesday, 23rd July 2024 and Wednesday, 24th July 2024. The names are as read out and the Report…"
